What Is Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy?
Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) is a treatment that combines a medicine called ketamine with therapy sessions to help people with mental health struggles like depression, anxiety, or trauma.
What Does a KAP Session Look Like?
Ketamine is given in a controlled and safe way as a low dose in a session that lasts about 3 hours total. The Ketamine helps your brain relax and open up, making it easier to explore your feelings and thoughts during therapy. While the ketamine is working, you might feel a bit different—some people say it feels like a gentle "journey" inside their mind. I will stay with you to support and guide you as you uncover new insights about yourself. This can help break old, negative patterns and bring faster relief than some traditional therapies. After your session, you will need someone to drive you home, and it's recommended to spend the rest of the day relaxing.
How Many KAP Sessions are Recommended?
We'll start with two sessions, and in some cases can do as many as six. After each KAP session we'll talk in a separate integration session to understand and use what you learned during your experience in everyday life.
